

Top batting performances
Karun Nair extended his good form, notching up his second successive hundred to put Karnataka in a good position at the end of Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy match against Kerala. Karnataka were in early trouble, losing their openers in quick succession to be 13/2. Nair then put on big partnerships with Krishnan Shrijith (65) and Ravichandran Smaran (88*) to help Karnataka to 319/3 at Stumps. Nair was unbeaten on 142, having added 123 with Shrijith and an unbroken 183-run stand with Smaran.
Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Baba Indrajith came up with fine knocks to ensure Tamil Nadu had a good outing against Vidarbha on Day 1. Reduced to 18/2 and then 73/3, Tamil Nadu were in a precarious position before Pradosh and Indrajith led the team's recovery with partnership of 179. Pradosh went past 100 but fell late in the day on 113 while Indrajith was unbeaten on 94 at Stumps.
Skipper Uday Saharan's unbeaten 100 led Punjab's fightback after they lost early wickets in their match against Goa. Punjab were reeling at 92/5 at one stage before Saharan got together with Salil Arora and put on an unbroken 123-run stand to take Punjab to 215/5 at Stumps.
Only 68 overs were bowled in Cuttack but Andhra made a solid start to the game against Odisha with Srikar Bharat leading the way. Bharat struck a brisk 93 and was involved in a partnership of 161 for the opening wicket with Abhishek Reddy. Odisha, however, came back well, striking in quick succession as Andhra, who were 161/0, slipped to 203/3 and ended the day's play at 222/3.
From 0/2, Jammu & Kashmir recovered their way to 195/4 against Chhattisgarh in the 75 overs bowled on Day 1. Ravi Kiran was the chief wicket-taker but J & K staged a good comeback thanks to Shubham Khajuria's unbeaten 78. Captain Paras Dogra gave good support with his patient 58 while Kanhaiya Wadhawan was also involved in a good partnership with Khajuria as J&K ended the day better than they started.
Struggling at 115/5 at one stage, Himachal Pradesh staged a recovery thanks to Akash Vasisht's unbeaten 114 as they went into Stumps at 293/7 against Hyderabad. While there were useful 30s from four batters, Vasisht was the only one who converted his start into a big score.
Sanat Sangwan's 230-ball 99 helped Delhi finish Day 1 at 248/6 against Puducherry. Delhi lost wickets at regular intervals, but Sangwan's 99, along with Priyansh Arya's quick-fire 40 and Sumit Mathur's unbeaten 49 helped them end the day with a decent score on the board.
Only 60 overs were bowled on Day 1 in the game between Tripura and Bengal but the visitors got off to a solid start thanks to unbeaten fifties from Shakir Habib Gandhi and Sudip Kumar Gharami. After losing Kazi Saifi early, Gandhi (82*) and Gharami (70*) put on a 167-run stand to take Bengal to 171/1 at Stumps.
Top bowling performances
Ashok Sharma and Kukna Ajay Singh combined to help Rajasthan restrict Mumbai to a total 254. Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scored with 67 and was involved in an opening stand worth 100 with Musheer Khan. But Rajasthan roared back with quick wickets, with Ashok running through the middle order while Kukna cleaned up the tail.
Vikas Yadav's four-wicket haul helped Services keep Uttarakhand in check on Day 1. Yadav's spell reduced Uttarakhand to 117/6 at one stage before Saurabh Rawat (52*) and Jagadeesha Suchith (44*) put on an unbroken stand to help their side recover.
