Harry Brook seemed to bat on a different deck. Coming in to bat in the 2nd over, he wasn't intimidated by the conditions or the scoreboard which read 56/6 at one stage. Barring Overton and to an extent Luke Wood, he didn't find any support from the other batters. But that did stop the England captain to play an unbelievable knock. He hit boundaries for fun even when the ball was swinging and seaming - 9 fours and 11 sixes. No wonder, he was named the Player of the Match even though his team went on to lose the game. For NZ, Henry was at his seam-bowling best while Foulkes bowled some pearlers to rip through England's top-order. They were put under pressure by the English bowlers but Mitchell's calmness took them home. After a frustrating T20I series, New Zealand go 1-0 up in the 3-match ODI series. That's it from this game. The action will move to Hamilton for the second ODI (29th October). We'll be there to bring you all the action. For now, it's goodbye..
Santner: It was tough work in the end, but the way we started off with wickets in the powerplay, it's always a great start. We know Matt Henry can do that, Zaky (Foulkes) was outstanding the way he swung it. It looks like a bit of a nightmare facing him as a left-hander as well. So, obviously, long spells. We knew wickets were massive. Even when they were 4-5 down, they've got Sam Curran, Jos Buttler, Jamie Overton. So, we know that we had to keep taking wickets. Possibly earlier would have been nice but he (Brook) was outstanding today. There was obviously a lot for us to learn. Lost probably a couple more than we would have liked in the chase. The intent was great and it was still there. One big partnership kind of killed it, so it was nice. Bracewell and Daryl's partnership, it was massive for us.
Brook | Player of the Match: I felt like I was in good touch. Obviously, we didn't get off to a great start and I tried to take it upon myself to counter-punch and thankfully it came off today. I've done it a few times, to be honest. It's either a do or die moment and thankfully I've been on the right side of that a few times. I tried to get us to a decent-ish score to try and defend it. We started really nicely with the ball, we just struggled to take wickets throughout the middle. I still think that 220 was defendable. We started really nicely with the ball. Taking 3-4 wickets in the powerplay is always a nice start, but we just didn't get the wickets throughout the middle stage of their innings. (Favourites six) Probably the first one. I don't know, I can't really remember too much of it. Like I just said a second ago, to get three or four wickets in the powerplay was an awesome start. We just struggled to take wickets throughout the middle, which is a talking point in ODI cricket for us. We've got to try and find ways, maybe get different with fields to try and put them under a bit more pressure. Just think of ways to try and take wickets through that middle stage. (On the conditions today) We kind of knew it was going to seem around a bit. They obviously hammered away at the top of the stumps. They bowled really well. They always kept the stumps in play. Most of our wickets were hitting the stumps. They bowled really well. The question would be, could we go a little bit harder with the bat or could we try and put them under a bit more pressure in their conditions? I probably think so. It's something we can learn from this game and take it forward. (On batting aggressively) That's how you get the balls off the lines and lengths, really. You've got to try and look to take it to them, put them under as much pressure as possible, whether that's going aerial or using your feet down the pitch. We talk about trying to put them under pressure, in those conditions, is very important.
20:31 Local Time, 07:31 GMT, 13:01 IST: New Zealand hunt down the target with 13.2 overs to spare but they were made to work hard. England's 223 looked under-par at the innings break but England's new bowlers started on a good note. Carse removed Young and Williamson off back-to-back deliveries and Wood nipped out Ravindra to reduce New Zealand to 24/3. Latham came in and batted positively to keep the scoreboard ticking. Carse bowled a 6-over opening spell and trapped the set batter Latham to break the 42-run stand. Bracewell joined hands with Mitchell and the duo stitched a match-winning partnership. Both of them notched up their fifties as they added 92 runs for the fifth wicket at run-a-ball. Bracewell ran himself out but Mitchell remained unbeaten till the end to take his team over the winning line. Stick around for the post-match stuff.

Adil Rashid to Santner, out Caught by Jamie Overton!! Gone this time! Rashid bowls the wrong 'un, Santner decides to loft it downtown once again. The bat turns at the point of impact and the timing goes awry. Goes a long way up in the air and Overton - moving to his left from long-off - has to wait for an eternity to settle under the skier before safely pouching it. Never easy, especially when there's a strong wind blowing. Santner c Jamie Overton b Adil Rashid 27(25) [4s-1 6s-2]
